A Penny for your Thoughts

PennyworthA friend convinced me to try Asian Pennyworth (Centella Asiatica), or here in Thailand known as Bai Bua Bok (ใบบัวบก).
So I went to the local market and asked the lady where I normally buy my fresh herbs and spices, and indeed , she had the herb.

You can use it in salad, it is a bit bitter, but  mostly it is used as a drink. Here in Asia , people mix it with water and sugar, so I decided to mix it with apple juice, but you can use carrot juice too.

Pennyworth400 ml  appel juice, a bit of ginger, juice of one lemon, a dash of salt , and all this together with the leafs of the Pennyworth in the blender.

The herb is  antioxidant, antibiotic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, diuretic, and a cerebral tonic among others.

It is also known as the elexir of youth and it is easy to grow in your garden.
