Umesho
Normally I am a locavore: I only eat products from within my region, but for umesho I make an exception, as I use only 1.4 ounce (40 grams) every 10 years.
Umesho is the ideal natural pick-me-up drink. It is a refreshing, invigorating and 100% natural concentrate made from japanese umeboshi plums and aged soysauce. Umesho can be especially helpful after over consumption of (Yin) food or drink. Umesho neutralizes acidic conditions and strengthens the blood and circulation through the of digestion.
It is traditionally used for nausea, anxiety and travel sickness. For increased blood circulation, mix to taste, with water, a little fresh grated ginger , kuzu or arrowroot and a bit of soysauce for taste. Heat till the kuzu / arrowroot gets transparant.
During travel, changes of seasons, quick changes in weather, we often see this transitional time can bring certain illnesses, discharging, or other discomforts to our health. Before modern medications, the Japanese as well as many other ancient cultures had the wisdom to use natural plants, herbs, seaweeds, etc. to make traditional home remedies.
These natural elixirs were used to correct imbalances and arrest various illnesses without the harsh side-effects and havoc that drugs can have on our immune system.
